And the nominees are...

Eh, I wrote a whole post that got eaten by the server. Briefly, I'm surprised by how many of the nominated films and performances I haven't seen. (I've only seen one of the Best Actress performances so far.) So I guess I gotta see The Aviator and then hope that some of this other stuff comes to town.

St. Francis de Sales

Today is the feast day of St. Francis de Sales. Since he inspired my nom de plume, I feel compelled to remember him today. Thank you, Francis, for your devotion and encouragement.

Lead by example

Tsunami relief is a good thing. Encouraging customers to make donations is a good thing. My question is where's the corporate contribution to spearhead the drive? Apparently we just want to be a donation clearinghouse, instead of putting our money where our mouths are.

If you don't have anything nice to say...

...don't say anything at all, right?

Perhaps I can encourage my co-workers to post here about our meeting locations and topics. I've got to find some way to encourage them to communicate with me.

I know I'm not moving to Virginia any time soon, thanks to John Cosgrove who has introduced legislation to require women to report all miscarriages to the police within 12 hours of the miscarriage. Failure to do so would be a class 1 misdemeanor.

According to my Alaska calendar, nothing happened in Alaska's history today. However, January 3rd was the 45th anniversary of Alaska's statehood and on January 15th, 1887, the first issue of The Alaska Free Press was published in Juneau.

(In other news, every time I try to type "Alaska", it comes out wrong.)

Oh, and this kind of freaks me out. My blog if I were French?

TGIF!
