Off the Map

I saw a preview for this movie a few weeks ago, and now I am physically longing to see it. Sam Elliott still makes me sigh. Sigh.

Easter

I'm actually of two minds. (Imagine that.) I feel very happy and very sad all at the same time; it is quite a strange phenomenon.

Reasons I feel sad:
  • I messed up the reading I did at the Easter Vigil. I skipped a whole line about fish swimming and birds flying. I could have kicked myself.
  • I also managed to cause Fr. Michael's copy of the hymnal to be misplaced. I put it down in our prep room, along with my own hymnal, and then I went out to greet people. When I went back into the prep room, someone had taken both hymnals and spirited them away somewhere. We couldn't find his anywhere.
  • One of my favorite altar servers is leaving St. Justin's to go to a different church because of some unspecified problems he's having within the parish. I will miss him.

Reasons I feel happy:

  • I managed not to set the altar cloth on fire when I lifted it into place over the altar candles. (Considering my other flubs, I'm lucky I didn't go three-for-three.)
  • Shirley's reception and confirmation was beautiful and went off without a hitch. Yippee!
  • Jesus is alive and I'm forgiven. (Double yippee?)

I guess the reasons to be happy greatly outweigh the reasons to be sad.

Happy Easter!

Disaster Fun

I was looking for information on the 2005 hurricane season -- it starts June 1st -- when I found this page. I like the disaster crosswords and quizzes, but I think my favorite thing is the green button midway down the page for "More Disasters." Just in case you haven't had enough disasters yet, we've got more!

Oh, and in 2009, we'll have both hurricanes Grace and Kate; that should be a banner year!

Form 1040AAARRGH!

So for the first time ever in my life, it looks like I'm going to have to file the big boy 1040 tax form for 2004. Man, I remember in the good old days when I could telefile to get back my $300 every year. Then I eventually graduated to the 1040A, and that wasn't so bad. Plus I had to file that to get my education credits, so I looked forward to getting that "extra" refund. But now, the 1040 looms in front of me, complete with the possibility of needing a 5329 form or 4972 form too. (I think the 5329 is only if I'm 79 years old or something, but I still have to figure all that stuff out.)

So, in summation, AAARRGH!
